Top 10 Caches in Williamsburg

With the 13th Annual GCHR Picnic fast approaching, I figured I would put together several lists detailing the best caches around the area.  Today's list will be the best caches, based on favorite points, in Williamsburg.

Williamsburg – top 10 caches 
based on favorite points earned:

1.    GCHDDJ – Noise out of Place – 191 favorite points - hidden by Team WRK&FSH.  This virtual cache is located in the heart of Colonial Williamsburg.  Guarantee you will like this cache.  Located less than 11 miles from Newport News Park.

2.    GC1928 – #3 On DOG – 85 favorite points - hidden by JK-n-VA.  Another virtual cache located Colonial Williamsburg.  Surrounded by history and less than 11 miles from Newport News Park.

3.   GC4J021A Good Thing Since 1924 – 34 favorite points - hidden by Team WRK&FSH.  A really nice cache hidden by a boy scout troop Williamsburg.  About 11 miles from Newport News Park.


4.     GC3N20V – Colonial Redwoods – 33 favorite points – hidden by seth1991.  Another cache located on the grounds of Colonial Williamsburg.  Great scenery at this location.

5.    GC292E7 – Mystery Marine Science Theater 3000 – 30 favorite points – hidden by M&C_WM.  A regular size cache located just over 11 miles from Newport News Park.  Terrain is a little steep for this one so be prepared.

6.    GC2EWGW – Crim Dell Wall – 28 favorite points – hidden by seth1991.  Located a little more than 11 miles from Newport News Park this cache is on the grounds of William & Mary.

7.    GC44NEP – Colonial Treasure – 21 favorite points – hidden by ScottishCalvaryman and adopted by costalgypsies.  For those puzzle cachers out there that like to be totally immersed in history.  This cache may take the better part of one day.  
Note from SNAP!!! - A+ cache - being a puzzle probably keeps it from having more favorite points.  Tons of history involved in finding this cache!!!


8.     GCH6FK – Melissa’s Meadow – 14 favorite points – hidden by JK-n-VA.  Another Virtual Cache located on William & Mary.  There is also some history associated with this location.

9.    GC18E4 – Lake Steps – 12 favorite points – hidden by JK-n-VA.  This virtual cache does require a hike but it is well worth the trip.  Located about 11 miles from Newport News Park.

James City County – top 10 caches based on favorite points earned:

1. GC2F40K – CJS - Preservation Virginia – 89 favorite points - hidden by Captain John Smith.  This cache is located at the Historic Jamestowne Visitor Center .   This is a great cache and is located about 13 miles from Newport News Park.

  2.  GC3D4X0 – I'll leave the light on for you – 48 favorite points - hidden by Virginia Griz.  This very popular cache is a nice little twist on caching.  Located almost 19 miles from the park.

3.  GCV3G6 – Let's play a game – 43 favorite points - hidden by Colonial Cats and adopted by va griz.  This cute little take off of a puzzle cache might just leave a smile on your face when you finish it.  Located about 17 miles from the park.
  

4.  GC4B4JT – NCGC #31 - The Electric Bird House – 34 favorite points – hidden by Never Cancel 180.  Hidden in the York River State Park this cache is over 20 miles from the picnic.  




5.  GC3DP9Z – Watch our for Trolls, the sequel – 31 favorite points - hidden by Virginia Griz.  This amusing cache is located just west of colonial Williamsburg but is about 13 miles from the picnic.

6.  GC1FB5D – The other thing Bears do in the Woods – 25 favorite points – hidden by Kuhidad.  This cache is located right off a very nice biking trail and is just North of the Jamestowne area.  Located about 14 miles from the picnic.

7.  GC15Y7C – Fossil Beach at York River State Park – 21 favorite points – hidden by Code Zero.  Right on the banks of the York River this is a very nice earthcache.  Located about 19 miles from Newport News Park.


8.  GC3WPVZ – Get me out of the Jailhouse again... – 18 favorite points – hidden by Colonial Cats adopted by GeoMunster1313.  This tricky little cache is almost 13 miles from the park and is located just west of downtown Williamsburg.

9.  GC4B4E7 – NCGC #22 - Stop Here When Closed - 18 favorite points – hidden by Never Cancel 180.  Another nice cache located inside York River State Park.  Located almost 20 miles from the picnic.  

10.  GC2F40H - CJS - Powhatan Creek Park & Blueway – 17 favorite points – hidden by Captain John SMith.  This puzzle could be a little tricky for some but all parts are located in the same small area.  Just under 13 miles from the park.

Top 10 Caches in Hampton

With the 13th Annual GCHR Picnic fast approaching, I figured I would put together several lists detailing the best caches around the area.  Today's list will be the best caches, based on favorite points, in the City of Hampton.

City of Hampton – top 10 caches based on favorite points earned:

1.    GC2V4ED – From Her Bedroom Window II – 36 favorite points - hidden by GrandpaGene.  A cute cache located in a nice neighborhood.  Located just 14 miles from Newport News Park.

2.    GC1JVMX – You’re gonna put that where ???? – 33 favorite points – hidden by
 tax-man.  This amusing little multi-cache is located near a medical facility and is approximately 12 miles from Newport News Park.

3.    GCGM7A – A Grand View Cache – 29 favorite points – hidden by CraZy Cache.
This is Hampton’s oldest active cache and is located a nice walk down
the beach from parking which is about 16 miles  from Newport News Park.

4.    GC52EER – VTCC #21: Final – 28 favorite points – hidden by Kemallor
 & cacheNquilt.  This is the final cache in a small 21 cache Geo-art located
 about 12 miles from the park.

A very nice cache located a short walk through some woods is located 
approximately 9.5 miles from Newport News Park.
