January Monthly Review and a look to the coming months

For the first time in years - there was snow each
and every week of January 2018.

This meant, at least for us, the amount of geocaching we got in was low.

A quick look at January's numbers reveals:

---------------------------------------------------------------

So looking into the coming months,
Nana & I have several geocaching trips planned.

February: A short trip to Tennessee
April: A trip to the Atlanta area
May: GeoWoodstock in Ohio
June: after Geowoodstock a road trip (see below)
September: the 2nd Annual Woodbooger event in Norton VA
December: Cruise to Dominican Republic, Grand Turk and The Bahamas

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Need some help!

Nana & I are planning on attending GeoWoodstock this year in Cincinnati

After attending the GIGA event, we plan on a geo-trip similar
to what we did after GeoWoodstock XIII - gathering up
cache with a ton of favorite points, older caches, etc.

This time though - instead of traveling through New England
we plan on traveling through the following states (or at least trying to)
before heading back to Virginia.

Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas,
Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana & Mississippi

If you know of a "Must-Do" cache in those states
send us the GC Code and your recommendation
and we will try to add it to our list!

Note: We already have quite a list!!!

That is all for now
Stay warm out there!

Till next time...
Stay Safe & Keep Caching!!!

I guess a brief history lesson would be appropriate here.  In our second year of caching, while traveling back to Suffolk after a long day of caching, we would talk about the best cache of day.  It didn't take long for this to develop into The "COVETED" SNAP!!! Cache of the Day Award.

The idea of a Cache of the year came to us in 2011.  We took each of the winners of the Cache of the Day and laid them all out and eventually came down to 3 or 4 best of the year.

This year, just like last year, we are having a terrible time figuring out who the winner is.
So far,  we have worked on the list and have the FINAL 13.

We will continue to work our list down and eventually we will name the winner!

So, here are the FINAL 13!  Note: they are listed in the order we found them.

Back in February we joined some other cachers and had a great time finding:
GC5FW2E - CACHER "SAR" NIGHT TRAINING
 - hidden by steve-n-kim
A really well laid out multi-cache.

Also in February we teamed up with jtmlam59 and managed to locate:
GC6ZCEA - Happy Retirees #6 - hidden by geospillz.
This cache had been publsihed for 2 weeks before our group managed a FTF!!!.

In March we found a well crafted cache - GC6B4V0 - GATEKEEPER
- hidden by Bikalot.

In March, after attending an event in Chesapeake City Park,
a group of us managed to locate:
GC71AGD - American Picker - hidden by Mini Martin Warriors.
This cache brought a big smile to everyone's face!

Later in March we teamed up with jtmlam59 once again to conquer
the Duck geo-art on the Outer Banks. The best cache that day was:
GC69WNX - Duck-Walk #11 - hidden by OBXbiker.

In April, Nana & I took a trip around Virginia attempting to finish qualifying
for the Virginia Delorme Challenge.  The Completed the
challenge by finding a cache in Block 64.  That cache was:
GC12PZQ - Locust Springs - hidden by fire_water1985.

Later, on the same trip, we found the final cache for the challenge
GCVYD4The Virginia Delorme Challenge - hidden by huggy_d1.

After getting home from that trip, we found a really nice multi-cache
in Smithfield - GC73669 - WCP Field Puzzle - hidden by chihuahuak94me.
There are plenty of really nice caches in Windsor Castle Park!

In May, Nana & I teamed up (again) with jtmlam59 to
make another find in Virginia Beach!
GC701NR - Missing Tracks - hidden by steve-n-kim.

In early August. alara and I found: GC74RGN - Poet Society #13: Angelou
- hidden by BookwormMSW.

September's entry in the top 13 i a really nice Wherigo: GC7BW3D
Tour the Taj Mahal grounbds...in Chesapeake?? - hidden by Cameramoose.

November's entry is one of the new Virtual Rewards:
GC7B6VP - Fort Monroe - Virtual Reward - hidden by AllstarSS.

Our last entry for the top 13 was a Meet n Greet hosted by Episcodad
GC7FJY7 - Chrysler Treasures Meet n Greet!!!

Nana & I will struggle to pare this list down to a final winner.
Hang tight - it may take us some time!!!

Till next time...
Stay Safe & Keep Caching!!!
